Apardion was formed in 1998 when John Macfarlane, in his then role as Manager of The Academy Shopping Centre, set up the company to take over the contract for the running of the facility including the security and cleaning.
Since then the company has gone from strength to strength gaining security, reception, cleaning, grounds maintenance and facilities management contracts across the city, in addition to running the monthly Aberdeen Country Fair market on Belmont Street.
The name Apardion was used for Aberdeen in a Viking saga following a battle in this area and some believe that the present name for the city was derived from it.
